Sarah ends her eight year exile
20th November 2007

Sarah Swan has ended an eight-year exile in Torquay and Basingstoke and returned to her Welsh roots! Armed with qualifications in tax, accountancy and law, Sarah has moved to Mynydd Isa, Mold, close by her family, after being appointed to a unique role at leading North Wales accountancy specialists, Sage & Co.

SARAH-SWANSarah’s unusual combination of skills – she’s a Chartered Tax Adviser, a Chartered Certified Accountant and holds a law degree – made her the perfect candidate for the role at Sage & Co, which recently moved from offices in Rhyl and Colwyn Bay to new, bigger premises at St Asaph Business Park.

Sarah’s is one of a number of senior posts to be created in the recent expansion of the business.

“It’s a great job that not only offered me the chance to use my tax and legal skills but gave me the opportunity to get back to North Wales and be closer to my family,” she explained.

Sarah studied law at the University of Liverpool before deciding to progress a career in accountancy.

Sarah commented: “I realised I didn’t really want to be a lawyer and changed course to train as an accountant working in Exeter and then for a national firm based in Basingstoke.”

Her studies then progressed further and Sarah qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2002. She then worked as part of a tax team specialising in advising on all tax matters and in particular Corporation Tax.

Sarah added:  “The extra studying has certainly been worth it! I can now use my legal and tax background to help Sage & Co clients with their business and tax issues.”

Sage & Co Director Matthew Gilmartin added: “Sarah’s expertise has provided us with additional skills that will enable us to add real value to our client services.”
